Aim
To give young people a voice in the visual arts in their county

Summary
To support young people in the process of action research and consultation relating to their experience of Cornwall as a venue for the visual arts and a location for international artists to respond to.
To inform young people and challenge their perception of the visual arts through open dialogue, visual material, gallery visits and participation in the realisation of artworks being made by international artists for ProjectBase at The Exchange

The Study Gallery of Modern Art, Poole
My Art Space Too

Aim
To encourage more young people to actively use the Study Gallery of Modern Art

Objectives

Partners: Local schools

Summary
Using digital media, young people will be invited to explore the notion of a gallery – what they are and who they are for by curating their own virtual galleries of artworks selected from The Study Gallery's art exhibitions and permanent art collection.
Their collections and interpretations will initiate a new dialogue between young people and the gallery, helping to ensure that a young voice is integral to the future development of The Study Gallery and it's work in the community.

Thelma Hulbert Gallery, Honiton
KickstART

Aim
Our aim is for the Thelma Hulbert Gallery to meet young people's needs: to make them feel welcome, to celebrate their skills and opinions, to build their confidence, and give them a voice in what has always been an adult dominated environment.

Objectives

Summary
KickstART is a creative consultation project with the aim of improving gallery experience for young visitors. We will organise with young people, a series of events culminating in a curated exhibition of their work or work chosen by them and the formation of a dynamic, decision-making, Youth Panel.
This Youth Panel will provide ongoing, sustainable benefits and the opportunity for young people to involve themselves in the policy, practice, access and enjoyment of an important cultural venue.

Artsway, Hampshire
Generator

Aim
To work with 10 hard to reach young people (5 from Wessex Youth Offending Team and 5 from Youth Options) to develop a youth-friendly education programme.

Objectives

Partners: Wessex Youth Offending Team and Isle of Wight Youth Options

Summary
ArtSway's 'Generator' project will actively involve young people in our future decision-making and strategy – particularly fro our education programme. The project will involve a series of artist-led creative workshops; discussions; outreach sessions and commissioned reports – all directly involving the views and ideas of young people. the main outcome will be a strong youth-friendly education policy that will enable ArtSway to better serve young people in Hampshire and parts of Dorset.

Metropole Galleries, Folkstone, Kent
LivingArt

Aim
The aim of LivingArt is to use contemporary art practices to explore unfamiliar experiences with a view to developing young people's life skills and confidence.

Objectives

Partners: Arc, an alternative curriculum provision working within the Kent County Council Attendance and Behaviour Service. It is likely that Arc's sister organisation, Warmstone, will also have an involvement.

Summary
Artist Natasha Kidd will devise a programme of practical activities designed to introduce participants to a variety of cultural and leisure pursuits usually prohibited to them for various social-economic reasons. An emphasis will be places on a creative approach to everyday experience and the promotion of confidence and self-esteem.
Participants will take ownership of the gallery, using it both as a studio and a place for an accumulative visual presentation of their involvement in the project; a living diary.
In contributing to the process of these young people re-engaging with their community through gaining access to education and employment, the Metropole gallery hopes to benefit from their future involvement with the gallery; as visitors, volunteers, parents and employees.

Fabrica, Brighton
Straight Talking

Aim
To increase access to galleries fro young people through an exchange of knowledge, trust and skills between the young people, the Fabrica team and the Youth Offending team. Training and monitoring will support the research process and set of guidelines for future planning will be an outcome.

Objectives

Partners: Brighton & Hove City Council Youth Offending Team

Summary
Fabric and the B&HCC Youth Offending Team will undertake action research and relationship building with a group of young people from Brighton & Hove who are on the IS Programme at the Youth Offending Unit. Training and mentoring will support the research process and a set of guidelines for future planning will be an outcome.
Workshop themes include notions self and representation, galleries and what we think of them, contemporary art and what artists do. Throughout the project young people will be encouraged to adopt a positive self-determined approach, listened to and know their comments will feed into future planning.

Milton Keynes Gallery
Consultation Workshops

Aim
For the Young People's Steering Committee and Milton Keynes Gallery to gain a greater understanding of the needs and interests of a wider young audience to inform the Young People's Project

Objectives

Partners: To be confirmed possibilities include: NCH Homes, Independent Schools, PRU's

Summary
The Young People's Steering Committee at Milton Keynes Gallery will be taking the opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the needs and expectations of a wider group of 'hard-to-reach' young people across Milton Keynes in relation to the future development and decision making of the group and it's activities. A professional artist will be commissioned to bring together both group's to work within a neutral environment and in a creative consultative manner.
